Road made safer for Rockhampton residents

RESIDENTS of Rockhampton Road, Jackson, St Michael, are walking better to and from their homes.
Last week the WEEKEND NATION carried a story about the inconvenience they were experiencing because the road had been excavated, awaiting work from the Barbados Water Authority (BWA).
But the same day the story was published, the contractor filled in the road, much to the relief of the weary residents.
When contacted, the contractor explained he was instructed by engineers to fill in the road.
He said the BWA still had to connect the pipes to the main, but the engineers connected to the project were upset with the time it was taking the BWA to do this work.
"The engineers instructed me to go ahead, so that there would be no more inconvenience to the residents. We are pushing towards completion and we thought it best to do what had to be done for the residents, the safety of the children, and so that emergency vehicles can enter the area," he added. (MB)
