A HARD-FOUGHT TUSSLE in the second polo match between Barbados' Waterhall Lions and the Arrant Malt Mad Dogs of Britain ended in victory
for the visitors at the Waterhall Estate, St James, on Thursday.
The Mad Dogs nipped the Sir Charles Williams-led Waterhall team at the buzzer to come away with a 5-4 victory after the scores were locked at four-all in the allotted 30 seconds of extra time.
With 12 seconds to go Oliver Taylor found the back of the goal post with a clinical shot that sent the small crowd into screams of jubilation. For the Mad Dogs Oliver Taylor scored three goals, with Alan Fall and Alistair Walker chipping in with one goal each.
For Waterhall Danny Atwell with two goals and Richard Gooding and Philip Tempro with one each, were the star performers.
Rain on Tuesday led to the cancellation of the third match and as a result the series ended one-all.
Waterhall's next major encounter will be against Chester of Britain at their home ground tomorrow. It is a high
14-goal tournament and will feature
two players with six-goal handicaps in England's Malcolm
Borwick and young Argentine
Joaquin Pittaluga.
