Rihanna to face Austrian winter with concert

BAJAN TEEN sensation Rihanna, who prepared Brits for the rain with Umbrella, is set to open the winter season in Austria and has been offering words of advice to fellow stars Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears.
Rihanna, born on an island of year-round summer, will star in the opening winter concert at the party ski resort of Ischgl, in the Austrian Tirol on December 1 the first weekend of the new five-month-long ski season.
The 19-year-old singer recently scooped MTV awards for Best Video and Single Of The Year for her summer hit Umbrella and is making waves with Shut Up And Drive, both from the album Good Girl Gone Bad. She has also been nominated for an American Music Award for Favourite Female Artiste.
Austrian tourist director Andreas Steibl said the concert would set the scene for a great season of skiing and partying. "Ischgl skiers expect to see the best stars and experience the best skiing and that's what we give them, with superstars such as Elton John, Lionel Richie, Tina Turner and Pink performing in our concerts," she said.
Ischgl hosts three big-name concerts in its Top Of The Mountain series every winter, with last season featuring the Pussycat Dolls, Scissor Sisters and Mel C.
Meanwhile, Rihanna told a British magazine this week that no one can help Lohan and Spears unless they decide to sort themselves out.
"There's nothing I can say that'll change their minds about their lifestyles," she told Chocolate Magazine. "They have to make the change for themselves and I don't know if they want it bad enough."
Lohan's life has been wracked in the last three years by drug addiction, car accidents and arrests, while Spears has endured a string of marital problems, drug abuse and a post-divorce battle for the custody of her children. (RJ)
