PROPER PORK was turned into a guinea pig during a riot at Glendairy Prisons two years ago.
Inmate Henderson Lowe told a Commission of Inquiry yesterday that rioting inmates who were looking to escape on March 29, 2005, placed prison garb on a pig with the intention of pushing him through a wall to make sure snipers were not surrounding Glendairy.
"They put a blue prison shirt on a pig and wanted to throw him through the wall, but they never got the hole big enough," Lowe said, a comment which produced laughter from everyone in the room, even commissioners.
According to Lowe, two inmates were using a large hammer in the prison's farm area in their attempt to smash a hole through the prison wall, but never succeeded, as police soon cordoned off the area.
Lowe said he also saw another inmate dressed in a three-piece suit riding a pig, and hitting a "dope" (crack cocaine) at the same time. Inmates also slaughtered a number of chickens, roasted them, and ate them in the farm area.
