Mascoll told the group of visibly upset vendors that he could relate
to their frustration and recalled the 2002 events when a kiosk was torn down although he said building permission had been granted to the young men who initiated the project.
The Opposition Leader said when Government sought the limelight and did not put the people in the forefront of plans, the people suffered. He added that it "cannot work" when big businesses were continuously accommodated and the "small people" were not given a chance.
Mascoll maintained that it was not the colour of the building or the money spent on it that mattered if people were uncomfortable and unable to conduct business.
Many vendors were providing for their children's futures by plying their trade, Mascoll said.
