A VACATION turned into a tragedy when a Canadian drowned at a St Peter beach yesterday.

Van Ashley, 35, of No. 23, Clanerten Road, Stullville Road, Canada, and his wife, passengers on board the cruise ship Norwegian Pearl, went on a craft to snorkel off North Schooner Bay in Speightstown, around 11:45 a.m.

He got into difficulties and efforts to revive him failed. He was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead.

Police said foul play was not suspected. (KB)
