New body to tackle CWC security
Published on: 6/17/06.
A NEW BODY has been set up to ensure that Cricket World Cup 2007 is crime-free.
Speaking at a seminar held at the Hilton Barbados recently, Attorney-General Dale Marshall said CARICOM leaders had instituted a Council of Ministers of Law Enforcement and National Security which was urgently establishing a new regional architecture to combat crime and security.
He added the "new architecture" would see increased collaboration among police forces within the region, as well as further co-operation between police forces and the military, nationally and regionally.
Marshall said Government was leaving no stone unturned in efforts to provide the highest levels of venue and general national security arrangements for the World Cup.
He said special budgetary funds above the normal allocations have been made available. (WG)
