Computer glitch causes delays

PEOPLE LOOKING to renew their driver's licences yesterday were in line for a long time because of a computer glitch.
Several complained about the unbearable delay at the Barbados Licensing Authority in the Pine, St Michael, from 8:30 a.m. Some spoke about three-hour waits.
Senior accountant Marcia Hinkson told the MIDWEEK NATION they were experiencing a technical problem with the computer system.
"We will issue temporary receipts for renewals but we will not be able to do first time applications," she said.
Hinkson was unable to say when the system would be back up.
This problem also affected the Licensing Authority office at Holetown.
A release from the authority said that until the system was fully functional again, only renewals of licences and road tax would be done. (WB)
