Young pastor: Live for God
Published on: 3/16/08.
DELIVERING THE SERMON like a seasoned pastor, young Brent St Jean, who is yet to be ordained, was on a mission yesterday
to capture souls for Jesus Christ.
The 23-year-old Christian, based in St Vincent and the Grenadines as an intern pastor, was preaching to about 5 000 worshippers at the Wildey Gymnasium, Wildey, St Michael. It was part of the annual service that highlights young preachers in the region.
Focusing on the theme What Time Is It?, St Jean warned the congregation not to delay in giving their lives to God, because they never knew when would be their last breath.
"If you don't surrender to Jesus right now, you would be lost," he said as he led the congregation through the song Gentle Saviour.
He reminded them that only Jesus could save them, so they should spend their time in meaningful activities which would draw them closer to God.
St Jean urged them to forget mainstream entertainers whose music only offered temporary relief and sensual feelings.
He invited the congregation to the altar to confess their sins and to be saved.
"Young man, young lady, you were running away for too long. Make your stand for Jesus . . . . Jesus never fails . . . . It's time
to come back to Jesus," he said.
President of the Adventist National Youth Association, Wendy Edwards, said the crusade would continue from today to Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., with an all-day service next Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (KB)
