Empire and Wanderers reach Twenty20 semis

ICBL EMPIRE and Wanderers secured semi-final berths in the Super Centre Spartan Clubs' Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at Queen's Park yesterday.
Empire completed an eight-wicket victory over defending champions Caribbean Lumber YMPC in the morning quarter-final, while Wanderers defeated Banks by 26 runs in the afternoon match.
The consistent Kevin Stoute stroked nine fours and a six in an attractive 67 off a mere 26 balls as Empire easily surpassed YMPC's score of 146 for seven, reaching 147 for two in 15.5 overs. He featured in a 116-run opening stand with Jason Hinds (37).
Earlier, Lonsdale Blake hit eight fours and a six in a topscore of 54 not out off 36 balls for YMPC.
In the second game, Ian Bradshaw hit four sixes in the final over from Jonathan Carter which cost 27 runs to carry Wanderers to a challenging 175 for eight in 20 overs.
Marvin Forde then took four for 31 to follow up a knock of 41 for Wanderers as Banks were dismissed for 149. Carlos Brathwaite made 55 in a losing cause.
In today's last two quarter-finals, Police oppose BDF at 10:30 a.m. and Carib Carlton and CGI Maple clash at 2:15 p.m.
