AMAZED AND CURIOUS onlookers gawked as bears, horses, monkeys and ten-foot men and women marched up Broad Street yesterday.
No, the circus was not in town again it was the Barbados Tourism Authority's parade in celebration of Tourism Week and the recently started World Golf Championships at Sandy Lane.
Featuring the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) mounted division, the RBPF band, shaggy bears, green monkeys, stiltwalkers and more, the parade left the Port Sports Club at midday and marched along Princess Alice Highway and Hincks street on its way through Broad Street to end in Heroes Square.
Both visitors and locals could be seen with cameras, camera phones and camcorders in hand, capturing the moment. Of special note were students of The St Michael School and Queen's College who performed along the route with mini golf clubs in hand.
Also, the stiltwalkers were bedecked in the colours of the 24 participating teams in the World Golf Championships, with Barbados standing above the rest.
