WITH THE END of last weekend's 2008 Brandons Beach Pro, surfers on the Caribbean Surf Network (CSN) tour turn their attention to the Makka Beach Pro in Jamaica in July.
However, one of the CSN's co-ordinators, Nick Donawa, is pleased with the recently concluded event.
He said it was a difficult one coming less than a month after the Sansouci Pro in Trinidad.
He said the other problem the event faced was the unpredictable weather.
"The waves were cracking all over the island except for Brandons and that is partially the reason for the decreased turn-out over the weekend," he added.
"But the waves were good, the competition was good and we still had a really acceptable level of competition."
However, he expressed concern about the entries in two divisions.
"We're still trying to work on the ladies and the bodyboarders to get their membership levels up, but overall I'm very happy with the contest and the way it was done," Donawa said.
He noted the unexpected dethroning of last year's winner Trinidadian Alan Davis, by Guadeloupe surfer Thibault Bremeol, has added a whole new spin to the Caribbean event.
"It now makes everyone more hungry. They want their personal rankings up, but they all feel they're representing their island, so it's looking really good," he said.
