KINGSTON, Jamaica Local star Chris Binnie and Barbadian Nadia McCarthy captured the senior titles, but Guyanese players were the most prolific in winners' row as the Caribbean Junior Squash Championship finished its individual segment last weekend.
Binnie, in his first year up at the senior level, outgunned Trinidad and Tobago's Josh Pinard in straight games to capture the Boys' Under-19 title.
McCarthy had a tougher time landing the Girls' Under-19 crown, defeating Joanna Scoon of Trinidad 9-6, 2-9, 3-9, 9-0, 10-9. Scoon was also the runner-up last year.
In the Under-17 category, Bermuda's Robert Maycock improved on his semi-final showing last year to land the boys' title over Joe Chapman of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States.
Barbadian Cheri-Ann Parris celebrated another regional triumph when she dismissed Trinidad and Tobago's Tessa Martin in straight games for the Girls' Under-17 crown.
Parris, the Under-15 champion last year, stepped up to the higher category and ran past Martin 9-0, 9-5, 9-3.
In team play yesterday, Trinidad and Tobago beat Barbados 4-1 to place third in the group. (CMC)
