DIMINUTIVE ANDREW TUDOR stood tall at the YMCA on Sunday night when he delivered the winning goal for Gall Hill with his golden left boot.
Tudor's trademark free-kick ousted defending champions, Mackeson Brittons Hill from the Barbados Football Association's (BFA) Knock Out as they suffered a heart-breaking 1-0 defeat.
The magical moment for Tudor came in the 70th minute after Sherwin Success, who had tormented Brittons Hill's defence on the right flank throughout the match with his deft dribbles and neat moves, was fouled on the right of the penalty box.
Tudor, always a threat in dead-ball situations, completely confused custodian Orlando Carew with a curling free-kick, which sailed into the nets at the far post.
Brittons Hill, who drew a bye in the first round, looked match rusty and a tough decision by the management to discipline coach/player Gregory "Lalu" Goodridge and last year's Most Valuable Player, Anthony Cumberbatch, for not practising, backfired.
Both Goodridge and Cumberbatch, the team's two most influential players, had to take some "pine" on the bench and were belatedly introduced in the second half,
along with key striker Walton Burrowes.
Goodridge, one of the few Barbadian-born footballers to play in the English Premier League and with over 100 national caps, came on in the 57th minute for midfielder Rondelle Vaughan while Cumberbatch entered the fray with only 15 minutes left.
Neither made an impact and Gall Hill's defence, which was bolstered in the last 20 minutes when teenager Stephen "Shakes Man" Griffith came on for striker Ryan Griffith, held firm as goalkeeper Omari Eastmond combined well with sweeper Andre Daniel and Jamar Sargeant.
Brittons Hill's woes were compounded when referee Edwin Adams turned down appeals for a penalty when forward Arantes Lawrence went down in the area.
In the preceding match which followed, Weymouth Wales' 2-1 upset victory over Gera-Tec Maxwell, Lickin Chicken Silver Sands dispatched fellow premiership side
Youth Milan with an emphatic 3-0 victory.
Paul "Soup" Lovell made up for his late arrival, by scoring the first goal of a double strike, four minutes after coming in as a substitute in the 35th minute,
to give his team a 1-0 half-time lead.
Lovell added a second in the 88th minute and the experienced Albert Mapp also slotted home a cross to seal Milan's fate. But Lovell missed his hat-trick when he broke through the centre and with only goalkeeper Adrain Chase to beat, scooped his shot wide of the right upright.
