FOOTBALLERS OF MAXWELL SPORTS CLUB, Christ Church, will soon be kicking with more purpose after receiving a gift of football boots and socks from their Democratic Labour Party parliamentary representative and MPfor Christ Church West Central, Stephen Lashley.
The presentation was made to club manager Antonio Cummins and members of the committee at the Briar Hall Sports Pavilion on Saturday during a club meeting.
Lashley told NATIONSPORTS the donation was a way of helping some of the younger footballers in the constituency who could not afford to purchase the gear necessary to represent the club.
"My aim is to try to assist wherever possible the coming together of all the sporting clubs and groups in the constituency, to see their needs and how best we can set about helping them to achieve their dreams in their respective disciplines," he said.
The Maxwell team, which is currently sponsored by Gera-Tec Services, has been promoted to the Premier League after finishing second in last year's Division 1 tournament. They are at the top of the standings in the Premier League.
