Port worker loses foot after accident

ONE of four workers injured in an accident at the Bridgetown Port last Friday lost his right foot on Monday.
Carlos Husbands, 23, of Alkins Gap, Eagle Hall, St Michael, who has been detained in Ward A5 of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), had his foot amputated after suffering severe injuries following the accident.
Sources close to Husbands' family also reported the young port worker was talking yesterday for the first time after being in a coma for the past five days.
Meanwhile, Wayne Williams, 26, of Alleyne's Avenue, Bayville, St Michael, was reported to be in stable condition in Ward B5 of the QEH after he too suffered injuries to the right foot in Friday's accident.
Two others, Colin Rock, 29, of 1st Avenue, Parris Gap, St Michael, and Ryan Bowen, of Thorpes, St James, were treated and discharged for their injuries.
Reports stated the four were working unloading steel from a cargo vessel when the accident occurred. (TS)
