CWC tickets for finals sold out
Published on: 8/25/06.
ALL TICKETS allocated for sale by Public Ticketing for next year's final of the ICC Cricket World Cup at Kensington Oval on April 28, have been sold.
And it means that the only way spectators can possibly get a ticket to the grand final now is by purchasing Hospitality or Tour and Travel packages.
As anticipated, tickets to the finals were in greatest demand during the recent Application Phase of Public Ticketing with every category, including the best seats at US$300 apiece and the US$200-per-person Party Stand, being oversubscribed.
Consequently, the ICC Cricket World Cup West Indies 2007, in a release from its headquarters in Jamaica said the allocation of Finals tickets had to be determined by a ballot.
However, fans still have a chance of seeing the stellar match on National Heroes Day, through package deals.
Cricket Logistics 2007 has a limited supply of Tour and Travel packages, including match tickets, for the Finals. Likewise, some Hospitality packages remain.
General manager of Cricket Hospitality 2007, Tom Roche, said fans can still buy Enclosure and Hamper packages for the Finals but they should do so as soon as possible.
"Fans need to be buying their packages now because if they wait too long there will be nothing left. This not only applies to the Finals but to both semi-finals as well, because they are proving very popular.
"In fact, because of how the match schedule is structured, people are buying combinations of Hospitality packages to watch Super 8 matches in Barbados, then go to St Lucia or even Jamaica for a semi-final, and come back to Barbados for the Finals," Roche said.
He added that Hospitality sales for the top three tournament matches have numbered in the thousands.
ICC CWC 2007 commercial manager, Stephen Price, also said that the Super 8 matches for April 15, 17, 19 and 21 in Barbados are "on the verge of selling out as far as tickets via Public Ticketing are concerned". (ES/PR)
