THE LOCAL TOURISM MARKET is expected to get a major plug in the British market following a drive-time show from London's number one radio station, Heart 106.2 FM, featuring Barbados.
A crew from the radio station which attracts 800 000 listeners daily was stationed at the Tamarind Cove Hotel, St James, for one week.
Host Emma B said it was the first time the show, courtesy of a British Airways' Barbados holiday promotion, was being aired in the island. She added that it gave exposure to places of interest, exciting tours, restaurants, night life, snorkelling and more when broadcasts took place around 12 noon to 2 p.m. (4 to 6 p.m. London time).
The feisty DJ also welcomed the first two of 20 contest winners who arrived at the hotel.
Heart FM, which targets women age 25 to 44, has been around for 11 years, and it has other stations in the United Kingdom. (KB)
