THE ISSUE of fees, rights and contracts has again cropped up in West Indies cricket.
The DAILY NATION was able to confirm yesterday that the announcement of the West Indies team to tour India for a One-Day International series has been delayed, as the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and the West Indies Players' Association (WIPA) are locked in negotiations.
The team was named and players notified a week ago.
This tour was not part of the original tours programme and had to be negotiated after the Indian cricket board requested the visit.
Tony Deyal, WICB's head of communications, said negotiations were at a "delicate" stage and the team would be announced "as soon as possible".
WIPA president Dinanath Ramnarine said he expected the matter to be settled soon.
