DALTON HOUSE (Yellow), dethroned Deighton (Red) as champions when Harrison College held their sports at the National Stadium yesterday.
The Dalton athletes, who finished with 1 040 points, dominated Class 2 girls where Najuma Comissiong and Amelia Rouse shared the victrix ludorum title.
The new champions also dictated the pace among the Division 1 boys, courtesy Michael Knight's double triumphs in the 400 metres (50.93) and 800 metres as well as the 110 metres and 400 metres hurdles. Gregory Frederick also did the sprint double with wins in the 100 metres (11.42) and 200 metres (23.37).
Last year's winners, Deighton, were forced to settle for second place on 959 points, ahead of Collymore (Green) 846 1/2 and Armstrong (Blue) 741 1/2.
For the third consecutive year, Comissiong was the top girl, breaking the 800 metres (2:32.70) and 3 000 metres (12:30.31) records and winning the 400 metres (63.39), 300-metre hurdles, 1 500 metres and the high jump, while anchoring Dalton to a record 4:24.25 in the Senior Girls' 4x400-metre relay.
Amelia Rouse won the javelin (22.61 metres), triple jump (10.24) and 100 metre hurdles (18.23), while Dalton also produced the Division 4 and 5 Girls' queens with Ashea Lovell winning the 400 metres (64.75) and 800 metres and Nicola Rouse leaping to victories in the high
and long jumps.
Daniel Burke of Deighton repeated as senior victrix ludorum, winning all the jumps as well as the 400 metres (53.52) in Division 2, where Collymore's Tyrell Forde broke the 100-metre hurdles record in a sizzling 13.81 and also won the 400-metre hurdles.
But Shem Payne of Armstrong was the fastest of the lot, winning the 100 (11.50 seconds) and the 200 metres (23.84) while Armstrong's Saeed Norville won the 800 metres and 1 500 metres.
CARIFTA athlete Kimberley Stanford was the Division 1 queen, winning the 100 metres (12.78), 200 metres (26.23), 400 metres (64.05) and setting a new time of 14.86 seconds in the 100-metre hurdles.
Erin Carter, of Collymore House, was the junior victrix ludorum, winning every race on the track from the 100 metres to the 1 500 metres. Yesterday, she won the 100 metres (13.79 seconds), 200 metres (27.77) and 400 metres (65.61).
Deighton's Nicholas Worrell was the junior victor ludorum with 66 points, winning the 100 metres (12.20) and 200 metres metres (25.48) as well as the long and triple jumps.
Jerrad Mason, of Armstrong, swept the 100 metres (13.58), 200 metres (27.13), 400 metres in a record time of 59.61 and the 800 metres to be Division 5 Boys' champion, while Deighton's Nathaniel Maynard was Division 4 champion, winning the 200 metres (27.85) and finishing second in the 400 metres which was won by Collymore's Josiah Maximillien in 61.74.
On the field, Sheldon Roach, of Dalton, won the discus (40.18 metres) and javelin and broke the shot put record to further boost Dalton's points tally, while another outstanding performance came from Erin Corbin-Boyce of Deighton, who won the Division 4 Girls' 100 (14.03) .
Jalisa Carvalho did the sprint double among the Division 2 Girls', winning the 100 metres (14.06) and 200 metres (27.97) for Dalton House, whose 4x100-metre Division 1 relay quartet set a new record of 44.56 seconds.
Final points: Dalton (Yellow) 1 040, Deighton (Red) 959, Collymore (Green) 846 1/2, Armstrong (Blue) 741 1/2.
