A RESIDENTIAL HOME for the elderly received a much-welcomed lift on Tuesday compliments the Syrian Lebanese Women's Association.
It presented the Ozanam Home for the Elderly and Homeless, in Brittons Hill, St Michael, with a $2 000 cheque to help with extensions. The home, which opened in 2001, has six residents.
Yvonne Franklin, president of the St Vincent DePaul Society of the Catholic Church which runs the home, said they were very grateful for the donation.
"They have been generous to the society. They give every year to the home," she said.
Syrian Lebanese president Carol Joseph said charity played an important role in Arabic culture.
Every year they "give out $15 000 to different charities", she added. (AH)
