THE CHILDREN of the Nightengale Home are smiling broadly today, thanks to Brian Lara and Cable & Wireless.

Yesterday the legend donated $10 000 from the Pearl and Bunty Lara Fund – named in honour of his parents. Lara also presented three Internet-ready computers on behalf of Cable & Wireless.

"This is something that is dear to my heart. I know that the donation means a lot, but being here with the children will mean so much more to them."

A thrilled Anthony, 15, said he had only seen Lara on television.

"I will remember today . . . I always wanted to meet him and I feel really good now that he came to see us."
