WEST INDIES opening batsman Chris Gayle has secured Top-5 spots in both the batting and all-rounder lists in the latest LG ICC Rankings for One-Day International (ODI) cricket.
Gayle, named the West Indies Players' Association (WIPA) International Cricketer of the Year last week Monday, is up two places to No.5 in the batting and he remains steady at No.2 in the all-rounder ratings.
India's wicket-keeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni moves up to second place in batting behind Australian Mike Hussey, with Australian captain Ricky Ponting third and Kevin Pieterson, of England, fourth.
Two other West Indians are among the Top 15 on the batting list Ramnaresh Sarwan at 12th and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (15th).
South African pacer Shaun Pollock stretched his lead at the top of the bowling rankings, with Australian Glenn McGrath at No.2 and South African Makhaya Ntini third, giving pacers a sweep of the Top 3 positions.
Medium pacer Ian Bradshaw, at No.10, is the only West Indian in the Top-20 bowlers' list. Pollock is also the top all-rounder, ahead of Gayle.
West Indies remain at No.8 just under three weeks ahead of the Cricket World Cup (CWC).
