THE POLO GROUNDS at Holders Hill, St James the mecca of polo in Barbados will be the venue of the first match
of the 2007 Diamonds International/Breitling/
Fairmont Royal Pavilion Polo Tournament, which comes off on Sunday.
This was disclosed by Jonathan Simpson of the Barbados Polo Club at a Press conference held at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion, St James, on Wednesday.
He said that with the just concluded "Battle Of The Sexes" tournament already decided, all attention would now be focused on the Cheshire team from Britain, which no doubt would be looking to avenge their defeat in last year's tournament.
The Cheshire polo tour is one of the oldest and most popular series on the Barbados polo calendar. This year the series will once again be co-sponsored by Sassman Publishing and Select Rentals.
Present at the briefing were Sassy Stears of Sassman Publishing, Jacob Hassid, managing director of Diamonds International; and Jennifer Harding, operations manager of Fairmont Royal Pavilion.
The second match of the four-part series will take place at Lion Castle, St Thomas, on Tuesday. Round 3 will be played at Holders Hill on Thursday, and the final will be staged at Lion Castle on Sunday, March 4. Games start at 3:30 p.m. (CH)
