Hinds to play for Derbyshire

DERBYSHIRE, England Jamaica and West Indies batsman Wavell Hinds will play for the English county Derbyshire this season after all.
Hinds, 31, has signed up as their overseas player for their Twenty20 campaign, the club announced yesterday.
He had originally signed for Derbyshire for the entire season but had his registration blocked by the England and Wales Cricket Board because he participated in the unsanctioned Indian Cricket League (ICL).
The new deal means that Hinds will turn out for the county in each of their ten Twenty20 Cup matches as well as the LV County Championship match against Essex starting on June 29, Derbyshire said on its website.
"I have always been keen to bring Wavell to Derbyshire as he has all the qualities we are looking for experience, ability and character," Derbyshire's head of cricket John Morris said.
Hinds will replace Australia's Chris Rogers as Derbyshire's overseas player for the summer's domestic Twenty20 tournament.
His last West Indies appearance was in the Champions Trophy tournament in India in October 2006.
Hinds recently represented the Ahmedabad Rockets in the ICL and helped Jamaica win the regional first-class double the Carib Beer Cup and Challenge titles. (CMC)
