NINE-YEAR-OLD ANTHOINETTE RILEY will be flying out for Puerto Rico today, probably with gold on her mind.
The Grazettes Primary School table tennis player, who is being accompanied by her father Peter Riley, himself a player, is going to Puerto Rico to participate in the third Caribbean Junior Table Tennis Championship of Cadets which opens tomorrow and ends on Saturday.
Riley took part in the inaugural tournament in Trinidad in 2006 and won silver. She claimed bronze in last year's tournament in Santo Domingo.
In addition to being the current national Under-13 champion, she reached the Under-15 final and was among the Under-18 semi-finalists last year.
Four other young Barbadians were preparing to participate in the Puerto Rico tournament but were unable to do so because of visa/passport hitches. They are Under-10 player Rakim Hinds, and Under-13 players Shaquille Piggott, Albert Collymore and Trevon Farley.
