2 stolen schoolbags just too much

A MOTHER is questioning why two of her daughter's school bags were stolen within a six-week period from a third form classroom at the Parkinson Memorial Secondary School.
It was about four weeks ago, said Sandra Hinkson, that her daughter, Rashida Hinkson's, second bag was stolen from a third form classroom. The first bag was stolen about two weeks before.
Speaking to the DAILY NATION during a telephone interview, the mother said in the first instance, the bag with all its contents, including school books was stolen and never found. The bag was replaced, and again stolen with her daughter's cellphone, a purse with money and other items inside. The bag was found, but the items were missing.
"I would like to know why things are being stolen from the school," the woman said.
She explained she contacted principal of the school Orson Alleyne about the matter, but it appeared as though nothing was being done.
The woman added she also went to the Ministry of Education to have the matter resolved, but to date had heard nothing.
However, when contacted at his home yesterday, Alleyne emphasised that the matter was not being ignored by the school's management, and stressed that it was still under active investigation.
He also said that the school had a role of 900 students, and management was experiencing difficulties in finding out what transpired as some students did not want to disclose any information. (JR-B)
