The Sealy Division 3 match-up between Spooners Hill and Brydens V8 Splash teams was the only bright spark in nine games played last Saturday night when the Barbados Sports Council/Barbados Olympic Association netball series continued at the Netball Stadium, Waterford, St Michael.
In the end it was Spooners Hill who came away with a hard fought 44-42 victory over the Splash girls. Veteran player Lydia Bishop scored 35 of her 39 attempts for the Spooners Hill girls, while Andrea Puckerin led the way with 34 of her 43 tries for Brydens.
In the Junior "A" Grant Division, Banks Spurs demolished Calvary Christ Church United 25-3 while Susan's Bar & Restaurant Christ Church blew away DG United 20-8. NSC Stars defeated Sion Hill Spartans 26-10 and Guardian Pride of Villa bludgeoned Ellerton 40-8.
In the only match played in the Clarke JNB Division, Barbados Lumber Company UAC edged out Church Village 23-22. In the Paul Intermediate Division 5, Brydens V8 Splash returned to winners' circle against DG United when they defeated them 27-20.
Barbados Lumber Co. UAC defeated Structural Systems Silver Raiders 33-24 with Janita Austin scoring 30 of 35 for Lumber Company and Natasha Wickham 16 of 26 for the Raiders.
Unity Stars were in dismal form on the night, failing to shine and going down 24-8 to Horizon Ballers. (CH)
