GOVERNMENT is using its resources to safeguard a house built at St Elizabeth Village, St Joseph, because the land around it has begun to slip.
Officials from the Soil Conservation Unit said the heavy equipment used during the construction of the large house resulted in the land slipping and as a result Government had constructed gabions around the house to protect it.
Officials said the work was a combination of government and private contractors hired by the owner.
Government is providing the gabions, material, labour and expertise while the home owner is providing the equipment.
Minister of Agriculture Haynesley Benn who visited the area yesterday stated that the homeowner did not heed the engineer's advice and as a result the heavy equipment used to excavate caused the land to slip.
