Principal's pledge

ST GEORGE Secondary School is on a mission to restore itself to its former glory.
That pledge came from principal Catherine Jordan, who was speaking at the official handing over ceremony of a set of pans yesterday.
"We want to bring St George back to its glory days. We're gonna do it through sport. We're gonna do it through music. We're gonna do it through the academics. We're gonna do it through everything, St George will be taken back to the level in those early days in the 1980s, when St George was the school of choice," Jordan said.
She said the school was pleased to received the pans, which were presented by the Barbados Children's Trust.
Minister of Education and Human Resource Development Ronald Jones gave a short address to the students, during which he promised to contribute to the development of the music programme at the school as soon as funds became available.
Borrowing from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, Jones told the students if "music be the food of life, play on".
He urged the students to appreciate music as it was an essential part of life.
Jones told the students they were just as capable of mastering the art as their Trinidadian counterparts, and they could use it to make money for the school.
The pans were presented by director of the trust Doreen Tabor.
