Weymouth match in the balance

At Weymouth A
SUPER CENTRE Spartan were on the verge of gaining a vital first innings lead despite enterprising batting from Police.
Replying to Spartan's first innings total of 223 for nine, Police reached 223 for nine when stumps were drawn.
Dwayne Yearwood has topscored so far with 78 and gained valuable support from Leslie Reifer Jr, 51.
They shared a 103-run, fourth-wicket stand which put the cops back on track, after they had slipped to 40 for three.
When Yearwood and Reifer were at the crease, Police looked far more in control and Spartan looked bewildered.
Yearwood strokes through the off side were classy, and Reifer lived-up to his lineage, particularly through the leg side.
Reifer reached his 50 when he turned a delivery to leg side for one of the nine fours he struck, and Yearwood joined him soon after when he sliced a drive to third man for one of his 11 fours off Jared Bernadin.
When Reifer was run out about an hour after the interval, the innings did not have quite the same momentum, but Police managed to cut into the Spartan lead.
None of the Spartan bowlers distinguished themselves, but Andre Marshall, Reydon Toppin and Shamarh Brooks all collected two wickets. (AR)
