TWO DEBUTANT fast bowlers bowled ESA Field Pickwick to within sight of victory over Oran/Carib Bristol yesterday.
Needing a mere 82 runs for victory, Pickwick raced to 44 without loss in just 4.3 overs with openers Mike Matthews unbeaten on 21 and Mark Edghill on 14, when bad light stopped play with 11 overs remaining.
Chioke Payne, three for 27 and Jade Padmore, three for 33, knocked over the Bristol top order in their second innings after Pickwick had claimed a first innings lead of 88 runs.
But a possible two-day victory by Pickwick was stalled by stubborn lower order resistance after Bristol were reeling on 105 for eight.
The rescue act was led Shawn Ramsey, who batted sensibly and attractively in a knock of 53, which enabled Bristol to reach 169 all out.
Ramsey, who formerly played for the Barbados Defence Force Youth Programme, struck six threes and five fours before he was unfortunately run out, trying to steal the strike after a stubborn ninth-wicket partnership of 48 with Christopher Dottin, who contributed 13.
