Bank clearing language hurdle

CUSTOMERS OF FIRSTCARIBBEAN International Bank's International Wealth Management Centre in Curaçao now have a choice of language when viewing the company's website.
The site, which can be found at www.firstcaribbean bank.an, is now also available in Spanish and Portuguese. iBanking, the internet banking solution of FirstCaribbean Curaçao which is accessed by almost all the office's clients, is available in these languages and the translation of the website was the next step.
Approximately 15 per cent of International Wealth Management's Curaçao Centre's client portfolio comes from Latin America where the main languages are Spanish and in the case of Brazil, Portuguese.
Latin America offers several growth opportunities.
"There is a need for efficient and sophisticated offshore cash management services for Latin American corporate clients. And we see growth opportunities in our wealth management product offering both in Latin America and in the Spanish speaking Caribbean, using the extended FirstCaribbean network we have there," said Pim van der Burg, country head for Curaçao.
One of the prerequisites for the execution of this strategy is to have all marketing material available in Spanish and Portuguese.
FirstCaribbean International Bank in Curaçao specialises in offering a wide variety of tailor-made services geared towards clients who do not reside or are not registered in The Netherlands Antilles. Service packages are available to both private and corporate non-resident clients.
FirstCaribbean Curaçao has developed a complete range of services matching the particular demands of the offshore market. The extensive array of international services includes:
