BCL rearguard defy YMPC

BADLY MISSING the spin of William Lashley, Caribbean Lumber YMPC could not find a way past some stubborn BRC BCL batting and their match ended in stalemate.
Set 256 to win in 50 overs, BCL, led by a dogged Sean Armstrong (40), frustrated the toothless YMPC attack and were 127 for four when both teams decided to come off with seven overs remaining.
YMPC, without the off-breaks of Lashley, away in Atlanta on business, posed little threat to a youthful looking BCL, who showed a fighting spirit lacking from their teams of the recent past.
Left-arm spinner Adrian Maynard was wicketless in 13 overs and it was left to off-spinner Shamar Cooke to lead the attack. He removed Armstrong and Andre Ferdinand, but that was not enough, as Krisnan Hurdle and Roger Williams continued the defiance.
Earlier, YMPC skipper Calvin Watson delayed his declaration till just 25 minutes before tea, with the hosts extending their 118 for three to 238 for seven.
After Eric Batson was run out in the first ball of the day, Lonsdale Blake blasted 12 threes and two fours en route to 60 before he was caught behind, at which point YMPC belatedly declared.
