Eleven mothers will be honoured this Mother's Day at the sixth annual Mum This One's For You concert.

The event, conceptualised to show appreciation for mothers throughout Barbados, comes off Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Plantation Garden Theatre, St Lawrence Main Road, Christ Church.

Those who will be honoured from each parish are: Vernese Boyce (76), St Lucy; Monica Griffith (66), St Peter; Pearl Prescod (64), St Andrew; Minnel Jones (79), St James; Carol Elcock (76), St George; Ianthe Pitt (73), St Michael; Eunitha Taylor-Wiggins (73), St Thomas; Vernon Williams (63), St Joseph; Carlotta Waithe (61), St John; Mildred Parris (81), Christ Church; and Marrion Jordan (63), St Philip.

Also being honoured will be home care worker Ena Straker and mothers of disabled children, Suzanne Martin and Barbara Foster.

For the first time ever, The Loyal Son Award has been introduced – an award to a son of the soil who has made a sterling contribution to the nation. The recipient will be former Editor-in-Chief of the Nation newspaper, Harold Hoyte.

Entertainment will be 100 per cent Bajan with the likes of gospel artiste Sister Marshall, the Israel Lovell Foundation, Jennifer Walker, Malik and more.
