Major award for Bajan hockey star

BARBADIAN sophomore forward Charlia Warner has received her most prestigious hockey award to date, climaxing an outstanding collegiate season in the United States.
Warner was named a 2006 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I second team All-American on Tuesday, the association announced on its website.
The former Springer Memorial School girl and Barbados hockey player, led Hofstra University and the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) with six game-winning goals and a school record 45 points.
She was ranked first in the CAA in scoring 20 goals, which ties her with former Pride player Janet Walsh for the all-time school single season mark.
For her career, Warner has tallied 29 goals, seven assists and 65 points. In the NCAA statistics, she is ranked ninth in goals and 14th in points per game (2.25).
Warner has also been named a first team All-Mid-East Region and All-CAA this season. She was also the CAA Player-Of-The-Week on October 2 and 30, and the Division I ECAC Player-Of-The-Week on October 30.
In 2005, she was named to the CAA All-Rookie team in her first year at the University. (EZS)
