BARBADOS LABOUR PARTY (BLP) candidate for St James North, Rawle Eastmond, says his party was making every effort to improve the health sector.
Addressing a meeting on Thursday night in Weston, St James, Eastmond said the party recognised the paradigm shift for health was important and was moving to improve polyclinics, the existing delivery of services, and the care of the elderly, among other things.
He said although the Barbados Drug Service had potential to do a lot for the country, "it needs to be looked at and reviewed".
Eastmond also addressed the issue of education, listing some of the things the BLP would be bringing, like three new secondary schools, and improvement in existing schools.
He said the BLP had turned Weston Resource Centre, first built by party stalwarts Lionel Craig and Nigel Barrow as a community centre, into a resource centre for information technology.
Eastmond also urged his constituents to get a constituency manifesto, which outlined plans for improved tenantry roads and footpaths at Mount Standfast, improved roads at Upper Carlton, a reduction in the drainage problem at Sion Hill, a new pavilion at The Whim among other things. (CT)
