A visit from Governor-General Sir Clifford Husbands, her pastor and a limousine ride were some of the treats Eudeese Gill received yesterday, as she celebrated her 100th birthday.
Gill, who resides with her only daughter Reverend Wilma Gill at 2nd Avenue, Kingsland, was all smiles as she received her visitors.
Although she never expected to make it to the milestone, an elated Gill said: "I feel good, thank God I made it to 100."
Shifting around in her chair and fixing her hair, she asked: "Are you ready to take my picture, let me sit up straight because
I have to look my best
you know!"
Her daughter Wilma noted she still had all her faculties intact and a great memory, although she uses a wheelchair because of poor circulation.
The centenarian, who only has one sibling alive, a sister who lives in Trinidad and will be 91 this month, returned from that country in 1984. She did nursing there for over 38 years.
Wilma said her mother also had a very hearty appetite and still ate "some of everything".
