Army still needs funds

THE SALVATION ARMY still needs another $180 000 to complete its $2.2 million hostel. That was the appeal from Divisional Commander Lieutenant Colonel Clinton Burrowes, project manager.
"The Retreat Redevelopment Project is going very well but the problem is that we need another $180 000.
Those persons who have been approached and the companies who still promise to help, we would still like them to do that, send in their donations for the project," he explained.
He noted that the project was far in advance and should be completed in another four weeks although it was re-scheduled to be done by January 13.
"We need the donations like yesterday," Burrowes continued.
"The debt on the project is about $150 000 but we don't want to stop the project."
The project will house a 32-bed hostel for men as well as a large feeding centre for the needy.
Clinton added that they could not put "a strong emphasis" on the donations from the Christmas appeal because those are directed to a specific need.
