FLYING TO VICTORY: Beginner's Class champion Roger Bushelle executed his most consistent driving of the season.
|
As the curtain fell on the second racing season for the Bajan Off Road Bashers, all competitors breathed a sigh of relief after six weeks of intense racing had finally come to an end.
Newcomer Roger "Flamma" Bushelle
was declared the overall champion in the Beginners' Class, when
he put down his most consistent driving for the entire season and piloting his Native Images-sponsored Ofna
Jammin X1R Buggy
to a clean sweep
in all his races.
Drove well
The determined Kai Whitney in his Whitney's Trucking-sponsored Mugen MBX 5 Buggy
also drove well to capture second place in all the races as well, leaving the upcoming Demario Hinds to round out the Top 3. Bushelle managed
to also accumulate
the most individual
points for the season.
As previously predicted, Nicholas Watson was crowned the champion in the Intermediate Class despite having to borrow a buggy from a friend in order to complete the last three races.
The Advanced Class promised to keep the spectators on their toes, and so it did, when Chris Wadman, Robin Mustor and Matthew Whitney went "head to head" in
keenly contests in all three of their races.
Third lap
The first race saw Wadman in his A J Mechanical Ltd-sponsored Team Associated RC 8 Factory Team Buggy dispose of Whitney
on the third lap and
press on to win from
Robin Mustor in his Mustor's Wholesale Liquors-sponsored Team Xray XB 8 EC Buggy and Whitney in his Whitney's Trucking Mugen Prospec MBX 5 Buggy.
Whitney, however, had the last laugh in the second race by putting intense pressure on Wadman and Mustor, which eventually caused both of them to withdraw with mechanical failure.
It was Whitney's first taste of victory.
Quick repairs
Wadman and Mustor, however, made some quick repairs for the last race, which also turned out to be the most exciting. When the dust settled, it was Chris Wadman who was given the Checkered Flag by race director, Nick Harrison, leaving Mustor and Whitney to take the other remaining places.
This race earned Wadman enough points to be declared the prestigious winner of the Advanced Class.
The next racing
season will resume on June 15 at the Haggatt Hall Raceway.
