ARIMA, Trinidad Young Barbadian apprentice Christopher Husbands scored his tenth win in Trinidad and Tobago when he piloted the five-year-old horse Kato to an easy victory in the second race on Day 10 at Santa Rosa Park.
Kato, the 9-to-5 favourite, was settled in the middle of the six-horse field and gradually eased by Husbands into contention at the 800-metre mark.
He took the lead entering the final turn and strode away to win cozily by 5-1/2 lengths.
Trini Calling ran on for second with American-bred Premier Attraction in third.
This was the second win for the 16-year-old Husbands aboard Kato for the year, having won with him on February 4.
The young rider's other winner for 2006 was the first day of racing in January, when he scored in the opening race aboard My Boy Babes.
Husbands won seven races at Santa Rosa Park last year.
It was a mixed day for Husbands, having earlier ridden odds-on favourite Stravinskys Secret into second place in the opening race.
He was then unplaced in the sixth event aboard Rico In Thong and then third in the seventh race on Forever Sharon. (CMC)
