THE NATIONAL SPORTS COUNCIL'S (NSC) fourth annual Busta Secondary Schools Road Tennis Competition winners received their prizes at the NSC, Blenheim, St Michael last Friday.
Six secondary schools participated in the month-long competition which was contested between last November and December. Those taking part were St Lucy Secondary, Grantley Adams Memorial, Alexandra, Princess Margaret Secondary, St Leonard's and The St Michael School.
Grantley Adams Memorial emerged overall winners, with Princess Margaret, St Leonard's and The St Michael School finishing second, third and fourth, respectively.
Travis Thompson, captain of the victorious Grantley Adams team, was named Most Valuable and Most Disciplined Player of the tournament. He had the distinction of not losing a single game. He was also singled out for special mention by NSC coach Peter Moore for the exemplary leadership of his team.
Also in attendance at the presentation were director of the NSC Erskine King, assistant director Mona Alleyne and marketing executive Gregg Brathwaite of Busta, who deputised for the company's CEO MacArthur Barrow. (CH)
