Jones wants revival of parent-teacher group

THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION will be breathing new life into the National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations.
Minister Ronald Jones said in an interview earlier this week that it was high time the almost defunct organisation was operating again.
The minister said that parents had to get on board with the new standardised dress code and help "push the process".
"One of the things we will be doing during the next school year is to resuscitate the National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations. The ministry is going to take the lead in resuscitating that," Jones said.
The ministry would provide some of the resources the organisation needs, he added.
"That will mean that all the Parent-Teacher Associations at the schools must be active. Don't complain about 40, 50, 60 or 100 people coming, use what you have to build from there.
"We need for that national council to . . . give voice to some of the issues that are happening out there in the schools and in the homes. Those things that we have to do," Jones said. (DS)
