NATIONAL STRIKER Brett Carrington is among ten footballers from the Pro-Shottas Soccer School's programme heading to Philadelphia in November for trials with FC Delco, one of the top youth clubs in the United States.
The players, seven boys and three girls, will be part of a college showcase where hundreds of college coaches and scouts from across the country will be attending to look for prospective soccer scholarship players.
FC Delco's head coach Allan Greaves confirmed the invitation last week in an email to the Pro-Shottas Soccer School's manager Greg Castagne, noting that they will play together on a FC Delco Invitational team and will have at least three games to showcase their skills.
Five of the seven places for boys have already taken with Carrington, who played for the senior team in a warm-up World Cup match against Trinidad and Tobago last month, Andre Sandiford-Williams, David Castagne, Stuart Weekes and Jason Lovell impressing Greaves with their performances when he was in Barbados earlier this year.
The quintet also gained the required Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores.
Two others Andre Leslie and Graeme Marquez have also been invited but their participation will depend on their SAT results.
According to manager Castagne, should these two not be available, footballers like Dario Weir, Jamal Prescott, Kevin Hughes and Renaldo Waithe will be considered once they get the required scores.
Greaves also indicated that the three girls Gabriella Lopez, Soraya Toppin-Herbert and Alyssa Yard would be accepted even without requisite SAT's as they could go straight into Junior College if they wished.
