Two to receive honorary degrees

FIRST NATIVE GOVERNOR of the Central Bank of Barbados, Sir Courtney Blackman, is to be conferred with an honorary doctorate by the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies.
Leading business executive Geoffrey Cave will also be given an honorary doctorate of laws during the ceremony to be held later this year.
The two others to be given honorary degrees will be Anguillan Dame Bernice Lake and Dominican jurist, Dr Nicholas Liverpool.
Sir Courtney served three terms as governor and from 1995 to 2000 as Barbados' Ambassador to the United States and as permanent representative to the Organisation of American States. He has undertaken several consultancies for governments across the world, as well as for various international institutions and private corporations.
Cave is head of Cave Shepherd & Co. Ltd and also chairman of Duty Free Caribbean Holdings. (ES)
