LUNA DESIGN OPENED its new showroom at Tyrol Cot with the ambition that the company would become a market leader developing environmentally friendly products.
The company, with its environmentally friendly jewellery, chimes and accessories, has created many jobs in Barbados and abroad.
Opened three weeks ago and operating from within one of the Chattel Houses at the historic location, Luna Design developed into a major brand name two years ago retailing a range of products made of raw seeds and natural fibres.
Venezuelan Ambassador Corrina Russian, who was at the official opening, said she witnessed the work which the couple Ernesto and Gloria Neira had done in Barbados for many years.
She said it was not just the type of jewellery which they produced that attracted customers, but the warmth of the couple.
Keith Laurie, a representative of the Barbados National Trust in which Tyrol Cot is vested, said it was a pleasure to have another chattel house occupied and wished the couple luck in the future.
Dame Billie Miller, representative for Bridgetown and a friend of the Trust, officially opened the Luna Design showroom and store.
Ernesto Neira said the accomplishments of their business was proof that business could be done with a minimal impact on the environment.
"We believe that our success is not only due to the environmental issues, but also because our accessories are attractive to wear, good value for money, natural, unique and last but not least, by wearing Luna Design, you show that you care," he said. (WB)
