FOUR WEEKS ago, John and Angela Leach were married after being together for several years. Today, John is making preparations to bury his wife.
Angela, 40, died on the spot Sunday night following a collision between their car, driven by the husband, and a pick-up along Beulah Cross Road, St Philip, around 9:35 p.m.
Their 15-year-old daughter, Kadija, who was in the back seat, suffered injuries to the hip and underwent surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital yesterday. She is a student of Springer Memorial.
The family, of No 39, Castle Terrace, St Philip, were on their way home when the collision occurred.
Yesterday when a NATION team visited their home, John's brother, Reverend Victor Leach, said the accident had devastated the close-knit family.
"I just married them on April 8 Easter Sunday. These are two people that I just went through counselling with for marriage and now I have to go through counselling for her burial. I am trying to get him through this," he said of his brother who was too distraught to speak.
The reverend said he too was shocked by the death.
Angela operated a canteen near to the airport while John is a prison officer. They have two other children Rommell, 21 and Miguel 18.
The other vehicle was driven by Christopher Beckles, 35, of Long Bay, St Philip. He complained of pain to the right shoulder.
