SHE NAMED HER SON OCEAN, and a few years after his birth the flow of her artistic juices took her into a unique enterprise Ocean's Little Rooms.
Carla Gall, blessed with artistic talent, told BARBADOS BUSINESS AUTHORITY last week that she had made a business out of personalising children's rooms with wall paintings after doing so for her son.
"What I do basically is paint any kind of character on children's bedrooms. Most children like Dora, Strawberry Shortcake, Sponge Bob, Superman, Spiderman . . . I actually draw those characters onto the walls," Gall related.
Her son is now four years old and she started the business a year ago. She is based at Bridge Road in Carrington Village and has a good stock of wall and oil paints that she blends to produce the murals.
Gall's art teacher at Parkinson School had seriously nurtured her talent and inspired her to enrol in the Bachelor of Fine Arts programme at Barbados Community College. Although she has taken leave from her studies, Ocean's Little Rooms is doing well.
"I want to get myself marketed in a way that people would have me do day nurseries, paediatricians' offices. . . ," said the artist, who is intent on breaking into the "untapped market" of children's art.
She said that her focus on international cartoon characters coincided with the relationship children had with international cartoon networks and gave her assurances that she could create other themes.
