KERRY "T.C" FRANCIS and Kim Holder remain the undisputed rulers of the local road tennis courts.
The St Lucy and St George players both captured their second consecutive titles of the year at the conclusion of the Tim's Road Tennis Championships at the Spring Garden court on Saturday night.
Francis steamrolled Anthony "Funnel" Moore in straight sets 21-13, 21-13, 21-18, and Holder undid the experienced Sandra Bailey in a shot-riddled straight sets display of power and accuracy, 21-13, 21-6.
Trevor "St. George" Sealy walked away with the veteran's title after taking three sets to silence Ricky Grimes 21-16, 20-22, 21-11.
Francis stamped his authority from early, viciously attacking anything marginally high that Moore offered up. Favouring to test the backhand, he pulled off a number of searing smashes that kept Moore on the defensive.
He closed out the first set at 21-13 with a trademark smash and proceeded to dominate the second set, surging to an 8-1 lead.
By the third set, Moore seemed to be finally finding his touch and confidence and raised a few rounds of applause from the crowd when he delivered passing shots of his own. He kept on even keel with Francis and even enjoyed slender leads at 9-7 and 17-16. But any hopes for an extended match quickly faded when Francis restored his dominance and forced the final error at 21-18.
Earlier, to complete the veteran's semi-finals, Andrew Holder went down to Grimes in three sets and Sealy lost narrowly in two deuce games to Francis in the 'B' class. Moore overcame Anthony Brown in three sets to reach the final.
In true exhibition style, 'A' class players Andy Richards and Anthony Mitchell kept the fans roaring with a breathtaking display of high calibre tennis in their three-best-of-five showpiece. Richards especially fashioned some incredible attack that highlighted his class.
