Windies in U-15 final
Published on: 5/2/08.
ST GEORGE'S, Grenada It was simply another "day at the office" for prolific 15-year-old Barbadian opener Kraigg Brathwaite yesterday.
Brathwaite scored a polished 52 as the West Indies beat Malaysia by eight wickets in their CLICO International Under-15 Championship League semi-final at Progress Park.
Chasing a total of 160, the West Indies youngsters rattled on at over six runs an over, punishing the hapless Malaysian attack as they scored 166 for the loss of two wickets in 24.5 overs. Ramon Senior led the onslaught with a blistering unbeaten 69, while Sunil Ambris remained not out on 35.
Brathwaite's knock took his aggregate for the series to 456 runs.
Earlier Zubair Norasmi with 39 and Keithal Goonasagaran, 33, tried posting a respectable total for the Asians, but found the Windies' bowling too restrictive, never allowing them to score over four runs per over.
Kavern Hodge was the leading wicket-taker with 4 for 33 while Derone Davis captured 2 for 23.
